Teresa L. Jenkins is a native of Flint, MI and is actively engaged in all aspects of her spiritual journey and ministry.  She currently serves as an adult Sunday School teacher, the 2nd Vice President of the 1st District WMS and the Project Shatter Coordinator for the New England Conference WMS.  She is a 30-year veteran in the field of Human Services and Child Welfare.  Currently she is a Programming Services Officer for the Rhode Island Department of Children Youth and Families. 


Sister Jenkins has worked as a Social Worker in Child Protective Services for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families and as a Social Work Supervisor for the Department of Social Services in Portsmouth, VA.  It is through her professional experiences and the genuine concern for others that she is able to demonstrate a sincere motivation to improve the lives of those who are victims towards a pathway of healing.   She has developed training modules for new hires in the field of Social Work with a central focus on the safety and well-being of children and youth. She has developed and facilitated numerous workshops and training initiatives for incarcerated men and women.  She is the visionary of the Unleashing the JEWEL Family Empowerment Conference which is now in its 6th year.  In her role as the New England Conference Project Shatter Coordinator she oversees the coordination of the Sex Trafficking Community Awareness Forums held in Rhode Island and Connecticut.  


Teresa has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Wilberforce University, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Strayer University and a Graduate Certificate in Women in Politics and Public Policy from UMass Boston.   


She has been married to Rev. Howard M. Jenkins, Jr for 32 years.  She is the proud mother of two children, Howard III and Morgan, an adored daughter-in-law LaTarsha and a doting grandmother of 3, Lynnea, Howard IV, Lydia. She lives by the credence “to whom much is given, much more is required."
